“The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” confronts the idolatry of speed that is causing so much emotional and relational trauma. The cares of this world choke the word of God in us, making it unfruitful.
A simple life manifests outwardly in a person's choices. How you channel time, money, and other resources toward what you consider important will reveal the simplicity within you.
This summary would help you simplify your life around the practices of Jesus, and also live from a center of abiding.

“Modernity slowly weakened spirituality, by design and accident, in favor of commerce: it downplayed silence and mere being in favor of noise and constant action.” ~ Andrew Sullivan.
Key points
1
Our spiritual lives have to fight off a great enemy called “Hurry”
Too many activities prevent people from living emotionally sound, healthy, spiritually rich, and vibrant lives. Being busy is good if you are doing things that matter. Jesus Christ was busy. But when you are so busy that you have to rush to hit your target, being busy becomes unhealthy.
If the devil can’t make you sin, he would make you busy. ~ Corrie Ten Boom
Hurry is the root problem underneath so many of the symptoms of toxicity in our world. In our culture, slow is a pejorative. Some 100 years ago, there was an inverse relationship between status and the volume of work you had to complete. Today, a higher status means more work for you to do. Both sin and busyness are similar — they disconnect you from God, other people, and your soul.
Distraction separates us from ourselves, each other, our destinies, and God.
The pathological busyness that most of us live with as our default setting — the chronic hurry we assume is normal — is far more, well, pathological as in the technical sort.
The world appears to be speeding up. Things were not always as fast as they have become today. Psychologists and mental health professionals are now talking about an epidemic of the modern world: Hurry sickness. Hurry sickness is a behavioral pattern characterized by continual rushing and anxiousness.
Hurry is a form of violence on the soul.

There are limitations to the things we do as humans
Getting more time to spend on tasks will not solve the problem of a hurry. What we need is a simple life that focuses on things that matter. We read in the Bible that we are made in the image of God. But also, we are made from dust.
In this insightful book, the author explores the detrimental effects of our fast-paced, technology-driven lives and offers practical solutions to regain emotional and spiritual well-being. With a blend of personal anecdotes, scientific research, and biblical wisdom, Comer guides readers on a journey towards a slower, more intentional way of living. By eliminating hurry and embracing rest, readers will discover a renewed sense of peace, purpose, and connection in the midst of the chaotic modern world.

Headway is the answer! No longer accumulating books I never read. With Headway, I initially chose the areas important to me such as productivity, time management, etc., and each day I'm provided several book summaries from which I devote 20 minutes or more each day reading. All of this on my phone! My life has improved with Headway. Truly my most useful app.

An excellent concept, executed well. Headway can help you retain what you've read while introducing you to the essential core of new information. It's an easier way to stay inspired, and to be reminded of the mental tools you've learned

In today’s world, we rarely have time. Between our jobs, our families are social obligations, when do we have time to grow and develop ourselves? Headway is an excellent app that gives you that time it gives you those little snippets of information that you need to direct your focus in on your life. Headway gives you a chance to find out the meat of a book that you might want to purchase and read or listen to in-depth without wasting a lot of time trying to figure out is this book for me? I highly recommend the app.

I've gotten multiple books out of the library with the intent to read them, but always have a hard time finding the time. This app has helped me finally be able to get to them. Summarized, yes, and thank goodness too! Just short enough I can finish one on my way picking kids up from school/practice, or while I'm cooking dinner. I can't wait to listen to them over the summer when we visit the beach!

It amazed me! There is the possibility to highlight the most important points of each book and instantly translate unfamiliar vocabulary. With the ability to review the searched words. It's a great way to learn more about English as well. The price is great.

I’m enjoying what I’m learning on headway.each summary comes with quotes at the end which you can save to help you remember key points. You can listen or read, I’ve found that reading puts me to sleep before I can finish but the listening feature keeps me engaged and I can finish in a brief amount of time if not one session.

Exactly what I need! I always have booklist to read, but can't committed enough to finish/start bc of too much pages. Headway is really helpful and concise with their summary. What I love the most is that the essence of the book is well crafted, so I don't only read the key points, but also there's the story and how personality of the author still well shown through the summary. Well done!
